In this course, Linda breaks down the language to simple examples any mariner can remember.  This course is available online, however currently is not accredited, which means you still need to challenge the final exam at a Transport Canada Office.

Marine Advanced First Aid

Small Vessel Operators Proficiency

Course Overview
The Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) course is a Transport Canada–approved, 26-hour training program designed for operators of commercial vessels under 5 gross tonnage (or 6 metres for passenger vessels) engaged in near coastal or sheltered waters operations.

This comprehensive course equips participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to safely operate small commercial vessels. Through a combination of theory, interactive discussions, and applied scenarios, learners develop a strong understanding of navigation, safety procedures, collision regulations, and emergency response — ensuring compliance with Canadian maritime standards.
